Guwahati, Apr 6: During a public rally in Hojai, Prime Minister Narendra Modi subtly criticized the Gandhi family, accusing the Congress party of placing dynastic interests above the welfare of the public.
Without directly naming anyone, PM Modi condemned Congress for its so-called 'family-first' mentality, contrasting it with the BJP's commitment to governance and development.
In a pointed remark aimed at the Nehru-Gandhi family, he stated that the party is more focused on serving a 'shahi parivar' (royal family) in Delhi, while in Assam, leadership is similarly centered around one family.
PM Modi emphasized that the BJP is dedicated to enhancing the lives of Assam's residents through ongoing development initiatives.
He asserted that the BJP operates under the principles of 'nation first' and 'people first', unlike Congress, which he accused of being entrenched in dynastic politics.
The Prime Minister also addressed the issue of infiltration, claiming, 'Congress has supported infiltration, leading to vast areas of land belonging to Assam's indigenous people being seized. This is a direct consequence of their vote bank politics.'
In contrast, he stated that both the central and Assam BJP governments are resolutely working to reclaim these lands and restore the rights of the local populace.
'Our administration is taking stringent measures against illegal encroachments and infiltrators. We are committed to protecting Assam's land, culture, and identity,' he remarked.
He further accused Congress of opposing government actions against illegal infiltration, stating, 'Whenever we take action against infiltrators, Congress leaders come out in their defense, openly siding with those who have unlawfully occupied land.'
Additionally, PM Modi criticized Congress regarding corruption, alleging that members of the 'royal family' are currently out on bail for various offenses.
He indicated that such matters reflect poorly on the party's credibility.
Comparing Congress-ruled states, he cited Himachal Pradesh, claiming that the party made grand promises to voters but failed to fulfill them after elections.
He accused the Congress government in Himachal Pradesh of reducing government employees' salaries, suggesting it has betrayed public trust.
PM Modi pointed out that these instances illustrate a recurring pattern in Congress's governance, where electoral promises are not honored once in power.
He urged Assam voters to be vigilant and trust the BJP, which he claimed has consistently fulfilled its promises.
Reaffirming the BJP's development agenda, PM Modi stated that the party is diligently working to ensure progress, stability, and improved living standards for the people of Assam.
