In a recent address, Prime Minister Narendra Modi sharply criticized West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee in light of the Murshidabad riots. Modi's remarks come after communal violence resulted in fatalities and injuries, raising concerns about law and order in the state. He emphasized the need for accountability and justice, questioning the effectiveness of the current administration. This commentary reflects the growing discontent among the populace regarding the TMC's handling of critical issues.

Prime Minister's Strong Remarks on Murshidabad Violence

In his first public statement regarding the Murshidabad riots, Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched a sharp critique against Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, labeling her government as ruthless. He accused Trinamool Congress (TMC) councilors of being involved in identifying homes to be set ablaze. This comment came weeks after communal violence erupted in the Samserganj and Dhulian areas on April 11 and 12, resulting in three fatalities and numerous injuries.

During his address, Modi stated that the events in Murshidabad and Malda exemplify the brutality of the TMC government. He expressed that the people of Bengal have lost faith in the TMC administration, now relying solely on the courts for justice. He emphasized that the cries for help from Bengal reflect a demand for a government that is not ruthless, criticizing the unchecked violence under the guise of appeasement.

Modi questioned the governance style in Bengal, asking the impoverished citizens if this is how a government should operate. He pointed out that every issue necessitates court intervention, indicating a failure of the TMC to provide solutions. He lamented that the TMC has ruined the futures of thousands of teachers and pushed many poor families into despair.

He also highlighted the government's initiative to provide free medical treatment up to ₹5 lakh for senior citizens across the country, expressing a desire for similar benefits for those over 70 in West Bengal, which he claims the TMC is obstructing.

Furthermore, Modi addressed the anger following the brutal actions of terrorists in Pahalgam on April 22, acknowledging the public's outrage. He condemned the terrorists for their audacity to harm women and praised the military for their decisive actions against these threats, asserting that Pakistan, which harbors terrorism, has nothing positive to offer the world.
