PM Modi Criticizes Congress in Assam, Highlights Development Initiatives
Prime Minister Modi's Address in Assam
On Friday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched a strong critique against the Congress party during an election rally in Assam, accusing it of sowing discord among various communities and labeling it a purveyor of false promises. Speaking via video conference to an assembly in Kokrajhar, he laid the foundation for several development projects and claimed that Congress has misled generations in Bodoland with deceptive dreams.
BJP's Commitment to Development
Modi emphasized that after the BJP-NDA coalition was entrusted with power, they began earnest efforts to uplift both Assam and the nation. He accused Congress of creating divisions for its own benefit, while the BJP has been working towards establishing lasting peace. This mindset led to the Bodoland peace agreement, which for the first time united all major organizations and groups.
Congress's False Promises
The Prime Minister described Congress as a 'store of false promises,' asserting that with each unfulfilled promise, it offers four 'big lies' as bonuses, indicating that the party has no intention of fulfilling its commitments. He stated that the NDA's dual-engine government is consistently working towards preserving Assam's heritage and fostering rapid development. Modi noted that Kokrajhar and the surrounding region have faced significant hardships over the past decades, suffering considerable losses. However, he expressed optimism that Bodoland is now on the path to peace and development, marking a new chapter of tranquility and progress for Assam.
Cultural Pride and Development Projects
Modi expressed pride in the Bodo community's efforts to preserve their language and culture. He remarked that the love and support from the community feel like a debt he aims to repay through dedicated service and development efforts in the region. Recently, he had the opportunity to witness the rich Bodo culture in Guwahati. Today, over ₹4,500 crores worth of projects have been inaugurated and laid as foundations for development. The region has endured much suffering and loss over the years, having experienced times when the sounds of bombs and cannons echoed through the hills. However, he noted that this narrative is changing, with Bodoland now advancing towards peace and development.
Ongoing Efforts for Peace
Modi accused Congress of fostering divisions among communities for its own gain, while asserting that the BJP has been dedicated to peace. He mentioned that all promises made under the 2020 agreement are being fulfilled progressively. The Bodo language has been granted the status of an associate official language, and a special development package of ₹1,500 crores has been allocated for Bodoland. Currently, a medical college is operational in Kokrajhar, and mothers are blessing their sons who have returned home to live peacefully and happily with their families.
