Nitish Kumar Takes Oath as Rajya Sabha Member

On Friday, Nitish Kumar, who has served as Bihar's Chief Minister for an extended period, took his oath as a member of the Rajya Sabha, marking a significant leadership transition in the state. He was sworn in during a ceremony held in the office of Rajya Sabha Chairman C.P. Radhakrishnan. With Kumar's entry into the Rajya Sabha, his long tenure as Chief Minister comes to an end, and the ruling NDA is expected to elect a new Chief Minister for Bihar on April 14. Prior to this, Kumar had resigned from his position in the Bihar Legislative Council.


Political Transition in Bihar

Kumar was elected to the upper house on March 16, and it was necessary for him to resign from his MLC position within 14 days following the election. Upon arriving in the national capital, he was welcomed by party leaders, including JDU's National Executive President Sanjay Kumar Jha, at the airport. Speaking to reporters, Kumar stated that he was in Delhi to take his oath. With his new role in the Rajya Sabha, his governance in Bihar will conclude, and the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) is set to choose a new Chief Minister on April 14.
