PM Modi Applauds Wrestler Antim Panghal
On Sunday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi extended his congratulations to wrestler Antim Panghal and the women's golf team, consisting of Pranavi Urs, Aditi Ashok, and Diksha Dagar, for their impressive silver medal achievements at the 2026 Asian Games. He praised Antim's performance in the women's 53kg freestyle wrestling event, stating, "Antim Panghal’s Silver medal at the Asian Games was indeed exemplary! Congratulations to her on a wonderful performance in the Women’s 53kg Freestyle Wrestling event. May she continue to bring more laurels to the country and motivate other athletes," as shared by the PMO on X.
Antim earned her silver medal after a 1-9 defeat against Japan's Moe Kiyooka in the gold medal match. This achievement marks India's first silver in the women's 53kg wrestling category at the Asian Games, following her bronze medal win in the same event during the 2022 edition.

The Prime Minister also congratulated Pranavi Urs, Aditi Ashok, and Diksha Dagar, emphasizing their dedication and enthusiasm for golf. He remarked, "Kudos to Aditi Ashok, Pranavi Sharath Urs, and Diksha Dagar on winning the Silver Medal in the Women’s Team Golf event at the Asian Games 2026 yesterday. This success highlights their determination and passion for the sport. May they continue to attain new heights of success in the times to come," as noted by the PMO on X.
Pranavi emerged as a key player in the women's golf competition, securing the individual gold medal and contributing to the team's silver medal alongside Aditi and Diksha. The 23-year-old from Mysuru finished the individual event with a score of 15-under 265, narrowly defeating China's Yin Ruoning and Singapore's Shannon Tan by one stroke, making her the first Indian woman to win an individual golf gold at the Asian Games.
In the team event, the best two scores from the three golfers were counted towards the final total. India concluded with a score of 14-under 546, finishing behind gold medalists China, who achieved a score of 22-under 538. Aditi recorded a score of 67 in the final round, while Diksha scored 77, helping India secure the silver.
India's Overall Performance at the Asian Games
India wrapped up its campaign at the Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games with a total of 85 medals, which included 21 gold, 27 silver, and 37 bronze, placing fourth in the overall medal standings. China led the medal tally with an impressive 341 medals, comprising 169 gold.
