Following the interaction, PM Modi shared his thoughts on social media, emphasizing that the jump from 14 to 114 medals showcases the extraordinary capabilities of Indian athletes. He highlighted the impressive tally of 30 gold medals, five world records, nine Asian records, and the commendable performances of both debutants and female athletes, stating that India is now more supportive of young sports enthusiasts.

Reflecting on a Historic Medal Tally

PM Modi remarked, "The leap from 14 to 114 is not just a statistic; it signifies the vast potential and talent of our athletes. This year, we achieved: 30 Gold Medals, 5 World Records, 9 Asian Records, and 4 events where Indian athletes dominated the podium! Notably, among the 61 athletes making their debut, 36 returned with medals."

He also pointed out that 34 out of 56 women athletes secured medals, demonstrating that with determination, no dream is unattainable. He encouraged a shift in societal attitudes towards sports, stating, "Gone are the days when pursuing sports was frowned upon. Now, if you possess talent, India will support and celebrate you. Come, play, and shine!"

Surpassing Previous Benchmarks

With a total of 114 medals, India has surpassed its previous record of 108 medals, which included 27 gold, 32 silver, and 49 bronze. The performance at Aichi-Nagoya was particularly remarkable given that the contingent was smaller than in the last edition, with 168 para-athletes representing India in 2026 compared to 309 in Hangzhou.
