Murder Investigation in Thiruvananthapuram

Thiruvananthapuram, July 27 - A murder in the Chambaakkada area of Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala, was executed as part of a premeditated scheme, according to police reports released on Monday. Authorities revealed that the suspects had arranged weapons and a vehicle a day prior to the incident.

Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Alexander Thankachan stated during a press conference that all four suspects—Pradeep alias Pathu Pradeep, Vineet, Nazir Khan, and Shivaprasad—have been apprehended. He noted that initial investigations indicated that the murder was planned in advance, with arrangements for weapons and transportation made the day before.

According to police, the victim, Vishakh, was allegedly attacked with sharp weapons outside his home on Sunday. The suspects were later captured in a deserted area of Pulayanar Kotta. Investigations revealed that Vishakh and the main accused, Pradeep, were not only neighbors but also relatives, and had been embroiled in a long-standing property dispute.

Police further disclosed that Vishakh had previously attempted to murder Pradeep over the same property dispute last year, leading to a case being filed against him. ACP Thankachan mentioned that a heated argument had occurred between Vishakh and a relative of Pradeep just two days before the murder. Additionally, the suspects allegedly tried to mislead the investigation by placing the weapons in an abandoned car to create the impression that they were used in the crime.

Seven weapons have been recovered in connection with the case, and the investigation is ongoing. Authorities noted that Pradeep has approximately seven criminal cases registered against him, including those under the Kerala Anti-Social Activities Prevention Act (KAAPA). Vineet is also a suspect in another murder case.

Nazir Khan has five criminal cases against him, while Shivaprasad faces around twelve. ACP Thankachan dismissed allegations from Vishakh's family that police had ignored previous threats, asserting that earlier complaints had been investigated. He added that a case was registered at the Vachiyoor police station based on a subsequent complaint filed in court.
