Piyush Goyal's Arrival Marks BJP's Election Preparations
Central Minister Piyush Goyal made his first visit to Chennai on Tuesday after being appointed as the BJP's election in-charge for Tamil Nadu. This visit signifies the formal commencement of the party's extensive preparations for the upcoming assembly elections. Accompanying him is co-in-charge and fellow central minister Arjun Ram Meghwal. Upon arrival, Goyal was welcomed by senior BJP leaders at the party's Tamil Nadu headquarters, Kamalalayam, located in T. Nagar. Notable attendees included Union Minister L. Murugan, BJP state president Nainar Nagendran, former Telangana Governor and senior leader Tamilisai Soundararajan, and H. Raja.
Core Committee Meeting Initiated
Immediately following his arrival, a significant meeting of the BJP's Tamil Nadu core committee commenced at Kamalalayam, led by Piyush Goyal, Arjun Ram Meghwal, and Nainar Nagendran. The meeting saw participation from Union Minister L. Murugan, central observer Arvind Menon, co-observer Sudhakar Reddy, Tamilisai Soundararajan, and other senior officials. Addressing the media at the party headquarters, Tamilisai Soundararajan expressed confidence and enthusiasm regarding the new appointments. She stated, "We are thrilled that our in-charges, Piyush Goyal and Arjun Ram Meghwal, are here. We feel energized and excited. It is a great pleasure to have an experienced leader like Piyush ji appointed as in-charge."
Focus on Political Strategy Against DMK
Reflecting on her previous role, she recalled that Piyush Goyal had also been in charge during her tenure as party president in 2019, highlighting his strong understanding of Tamil Nadu's political landscape and his excellent rapport with coalition partners. Tamilisai further clarified the BJP's political objectives in the state, stating, "When we formulate our strategy, our primary goal is to oust the DMK from power. The DMK government is running an anti-people administration and fostering anti-Hindu sentiments. Our main aim is to uproot the DMK, and we will engage in any strategies necessary to remove their government."
Core Committee Meeting Agenda
According to sources, the core committee meeting is expected to focus on election preparations, organizational strength, and coalition strategies.
