Piyush Goyal Dismisses Allegations of Misappropriation in Ram Temple Donations
Central Minister Responds to Allegations
On Thursday, Union Minister Piyush Goyal firmly rejected the claims made by Samajwadi Party (SP) President Akhilesh Yadav regarding alleged misappropriation of donations for the Ram Temple in Ayodhya. Goyal expressed that the public does not trust the statements of the opposition leader. He remarked that Yadav's tweets are not taken seriously by anyone, adding that the way Yadav has distanced Uttar Pradesh from development and fostered an atmosphere of chaos and divisive politics will lead the public to reject him once again. Goyal further stated that the ruling coalition will maintain its strong position based on its administrative performance.
Political Tensions Rise Over Donation Claims
Following Yadav's assertion on social media that millions of rupees from devotees' offerings have gone missing, the political controversy has intensified. He labeled these discrepancies as extremely shameful and a direct attack on the faith of millions of devotees worldwide. Yadav urged the judiciary to take suo motu cognizance of the matter, dismissing the temple administration's initial clarification as insufficient, describing it as a mere 40-second explanation and a verbal formality. He called for a full meeting of the trustees and a comparison of cash counts with security footage.
Trustees Respond to Allegations
Members of the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust have swiftly taken steps to address this narrative. Mahant Dinesh Das Maharaj stated that all financial decisions and transactions of the trust are meticulously recorded, collectively managed, and closely monitored. He emphasized that all transactions are documented with great care and are conducted in a correct and transparent manner, asserting that the trust operates with complete integrity.
Financial Audits and Opposition Demands
Champat Rai, the General Secretary of the Trust, confirmed that regular financial audits are being conducted in collaboration with the State Bank of India. He stressed that these audits are part of a scheduled monitoring process, and no significant evidence of irregularities or fraud has been found. Despite these reassurances, the opposition continues to demand formal legal action. Yadav claims that complaints regarding the management of sacred offerings have escalated to the point of filing FIRs. Regional administrative officials have not publicly commented on these allegations, while the Trust maintains that its financial compliance processes are entirely transparent.
