Piyush Goyal Critiques Mamata Banerjee Amid TMC Turmoil

Union Minister Piyush Goyal has launched a scathing critique of Mamata Banerjee's leadership in West Bengal, labeling her governance as harsh and discriminatory. Amidst internal turmoil within the Trinamool Congress, Goyal's comments reflect a growing sentiment among the public, who are now expressing their frustrations openly. Kalyan Banerjee, a party MP, has also voiced his concerns, issuing an ultimatum to Mamata regarding her leadership choices. This article delves into the ongoing political dynamics in West Bengal and the implications for the future of the TMC.

Goyal's Strong Criticism of Banerjee's Governance

In the midst of ongoing internal strife within the All India Trinamool Congress (AITC), Union Minister Piyush Goyal has sharply criticized party leader Mamata Banerjee. He described her tenure as Chief Minister as "extremely harsh," highlighting issues of discrimination and poverty. During a press conference, Goyal stated that the current conditions in West Bengal reflect the oppressive rule of Mamata Banerjee. He pointed out the atmosphere of fear and the discrimination faced by the state's residents, which has kept them in poverty. For fifteen years, West Bengal has neither witnessed development nor welfare under her governance; however, following her poor leadership, the public is now openly expressing their true feelings.

A New Era for West Bengal?

He further remarked that West Bengal has essentially gained its freedom. Since the elections, people have been able to voice their opinions freely. Perhaps now, Kalyan Banerjee will also have the liberty to express his genuine thoughts. Ultimately, the state has been liberated from the mistreatment and atrocities inflicted by Mamata Banerjee. There is now confidence that under PM Modi's leadership and vision, the government led by Suvendu Adhikari will steer West Bengal towards progress. These comments come amid the internal discord within the Trinamool Congress, as party MP and lawyer Kalyan Banerjee launched a fierce attack on General Secretary Abhishek Banerjee over a case of forgery related to signatures.

Kalyan Banerjee's Ultimatum

Speaking to reporters in Kolkata, Kalyan Banerjee issued an ultimatum to TMC chief Mamata Banerjee, urging her to choose between him and his nephew, Abhishek Banerjee. Criticizing Abhishek, Kalyan labeled him arrogant and attributed the ongoing turmoil within the party to his actions.

Legal Challenges and Party Dynamics

He explained, "A criminal revision petition was filed, which was listed before the vacation bench on Friday. I waited for six hours for the hearing, but it did not occur; eventually, I brought it to the honorable judge's attention. The judge indicated that the matter would be addressed on Wednesday. On Tuesday, a search was conducted, and the next morning, I mentioned the case in court, emphasizing its urgency. A lawyer arrived claiming he was sent by Abhishek Banerjee, stating that another writ petition regarding the search had been filed. Since I had already mentioned the case in the criminal revision, why was a petition filed without consulting me? It would be better if one person handled the case. If you believe I cannot manage it, then take it and do not treat me like a dustbin. Inform me within an hour. Today, my son told me that I will not appear. From now on, I will not represent any case on behalf of Abhishek Banerjee. I do not appreciate this arrogant attitude. Respect for elders is essential. How can he disrespect me? He must understand that the party is facing issues because of him. Yet, he continues to disregard everyone. This is intolerable. I will urge Didi: if you choose to rely on Abhishek Banerjee, then stay with him - leave me out. But if you decide to part ways with him, then I will stand by you. He mentioned that he had spoken with senior TMC leader Derek O'Brien, while Mamata Banerjee has yet to contact him. Derek called me to provide information. Didi has not called me. I will look into matters concerning other individuals and the Trinamool Congress. He (Abhishek Banerjee) does not represent the Trinamool Congress.
