Piyush Goyal Critiques DMK's Governance Ahead of Tamil Nadu Elections
Piyush Goyal's Strong Criticism of DMK
On Thursday, Piyush Goyal, a central minister and the election in-charge for the Tamil Nadu BJP, launched a scathing attack on the ruling Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) party. Speaking at a press conference in Coimbatore, often referred to as the Manchester of South India, he accused the DMK of corruption and mismanagement as the state approaches its assembly elections. Goyal asserted that the DMK, led by a family notorious for corruption, is responsible for the state's decline.
He highlighted several pressing issues, including law and order, the drug menace, and alleged corruption within the DMK. Goyal emphasized that the AIADMK and its allied parties are united in their mission for Tamil Nadu's development, expressing pride in the state's rich cultural heritage. He lamented that the DMK, run by a family infamous for corruption, is leading Tamil Nadu towards deterioration.
Criticizing the DMK's approach to law enforcement, he accused the party of using police to intimidate both the public and the media. Goyal further stated that the DMK has failed to manage law and order, the drug crisis, and corruption related to contracts. He claimed that during this election, the DMK is instilling fear among the populace by employing police tactics and creating an atmosphere of intimidation, including cutting cable TV connections and threatening the media, which he believes exposes the misdeeds of the Stalin family. He concluded by asserting that the public is aware of the DMK's continuous failures.
Goyal also pointed out that while the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) has reduced taxes, the DMK has failed to do so, resulting in a weakened financial situation for the state. He mentioned unfinished infrastructure projects and failures in agricultural support, including damage to the Koushika River and incomplete restoration work at the Ukkadam Lake.
