Pincky Balhara's Performance in Kurash

Indian Kurash competitor Pincky Balhara achieved her second medal at the Asian Games, facing a defeat in the women's 78 kg semifinal against South Korea's Mo Sumin in Aichi-Nagoya on Monday. Pincky, who previously won a silver medal in the 2018 Asian Games, marked India's third medal in this sport at the Asian Games, losing to the 2026 Asian Championships gold medalist Sumin with a score of 0-5. Throughout the match, Pincky fell behind early, receiving a warning, but managed to execute a 'chala' (half point/throw). However, Sumin converted this into a 'yonbosh' (full point, just shy of an instant win) after another warning was issued, leading to Pincky receiving a 'dakki' (two warnings, one away from disqualification). Ultimately, she secured a bronze medal.

This victory brings India's total medal count at the Asian Games to 38, which includes four golds, 16 silvers, and now 18 bronzes.

Lovlina Borgohain Secures Boxing Medal

Indian Olympic medalist Lovlina Borgohain has guaranteed another medal in boxing for India at the ongoing Asian Games in Japan. She triumphed over 2010 Asiad bronze medalist Seong Suyeon from South Korea in the women's 75 kg quarterfinal, winning by a unanimous decision of 5-0, as reported by ESPN.

In the initial round, both boxers engaged aggressively, exchanging punches without much defense, with Lovlina gaining the upper hand and the judges scoring it 10-9 in her favor, resulting in a 5-0 round win.

During the second round, Seong attempted to take control, but Lovlina effectively countered her attacks and landed several jabs, winning the round 5-0 and leading 20-18 overall.

In the final round, Lovlina dominated, delivering rapid 1-2 combinations that left Seong disoriented. The judges awarded Lovlina another 5-0 victory in this round, concluding the match with a total score of 30-27.
