Siddle's New Role with NSW

Former Australian fast bowler Peter Siddle has been appointed as the bowling coach for New South Wales (NSW) for the upcoming 2026-27 season. This move integrates his expertise into Brad Haddin's coaching staff as they gear up for the new domestic cricket season, according to reports from a sports news outlet. At 41, Siddle will oversee the bowling unit during the Sheffield Shield matches while also maintaining his position with the Melbourne Stars in the Big Bash League (BBL). He joins fellow coaches Peter Forrest and Daniel Smith in Haddin's team.

Additional Coaching Support

In addition to Siddle, Johan Botha will serve as a temporary spin consultant for NSW after resigning from his role as Queensland coach earlier this year. His addition comes as the team prepares for Haddin's inaugural season as head coach.

Siddle's experience will bolster an NSW pace attack that features Liam Hatcher, rising star Ryan Hadley, allrounder Jack Edwards, Sean Abbott, and left-arm seamer Ben Dwarshuis. Australia's leading bowlers, Mitchell Starc, Pat Cummins, and Josh Hazlewood, are also part of the state setup but are often unavailable for domestic matches due to international duties.

National Representation

NSW will also see several spinners participating in national programs. Joel Davies is set to join Australia's ODI squad for tours in Zimbabwe and South Africa, while Tanveer Sangha will be part of Australia A's white-ball tour in India.

Season Kickoff

The Blues will kick off their 2026-27 season with a One-Day Cup match against Queensland on September 22, followed by their Sheffield Shield opener against Tasmania on October 8.
