Pentagon Requests $200 Billion for Iran Conflict: What’s Behind the Massive Funding Demand?
Pentagon's Significant Funding Request
Washington: A senior official from the administration has revealed that the Pentagon is requesting an additional $200 billion to fund operations related to the Iran conflict.
This request has been submitted to the White House, as per the official who chose to remain anonymous while discussing sensitive information.
This substantial amount is in addition to the extra funding that the Defense Department received last year as part of President Donald Trump's significant tax reform legislation.
Congress is preparing for this new funding request, although it remains uncertain if the White House has forwarded it for review. The level of support for this spending request is also unclear.
The Washington Post was the first to report on this new funding demand. When questioned about the figure during a press briefing on Thursday, Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth refrained from confirming the exact amount, indicating that it might be subject to change. However, he emphasized, "We are returning to Congress to ensure our funding needs are adequately met."
