Upcoming Parliamentary Meetings on Child Crimes
According to a notice from the Rajya Sabha Secretariat, the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Home Affairs will hold several meetings on June 16 and 17 to discuss the topic of "Crimes Against Children." These meetings aim to gather insights from the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA), relevant organizations, and other associated ministries. The first meeting is scheduled for June 16 at 11:00 AM at the Parliament House Annex (PHA) in New Delhi, where the committee will engage with representatives from the MHA. Later that same day, at 2:30 PM, the committee will hear from the National Crime Records Bureau (NCRB).
On June 17, the committee will convene again at 11:00 AM, this time meeting with representatives from the Ministry of Women and Child Development at the Parliament House Annex Extension. The final meeting in this series will take place on June 17 at 2:30 PM with the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY). The notice also indicated that a soft copy of the background note on the topic of "Crimes Against Children" has been sent to the members via email and the members' portal. Members of the department-related Parliamentary Standing Committee on Home Affairs have been requested to make arrangements to attend these meetings.
