Pappu Yadav Criticizes BJP MP Bansuri Swaraj Over Legal Actions Against Rahul Gandhi
Pappu Yadav's Accusations Against Bansuri Swaraj
Independent MP Pappu Yadav expressed strong criticism on Wednesday towards BJP MP Bansuri Swaraj, alleging that her primary objective in public life is to file legal cases against Congress leader Rahul Gandhi. Speaking to reporters in New Delhi, Yadav remarked that it seems Bansuri Swaraj was born solely to pursue legal actions against Gandhi, stating that she frequently visits police stations and lacks a proper understanding of the law.
Call for Adherence to Parliamentary Procedures
The MP from Purnia further emphasized that Swaraj should adhere to parliamentary procedures before taking such actions. He insisted that she must seek permission from the Speaker of the House first. Yadav also addressed a notice he received from a court in Uttar Pradesh, denying any involvement in disturbances and affirming his commitment to following legal processes. He stated, 'I do not believe in violence.' The Prayagraj court has acknowledged the matter and issued a notice to him, which he intends to respond to.
Political Controversy Arising from Opposition Protests
Yadav's remarks came in the wake of a political controversy sparked by a skit performed by opposition MPs in the Parliament, which criticized the central government over alleged irregularities in the Ram Temple donation issue. Defending the skit, Yadav described it as a respectable form of protest and mentioned that he would present his case before Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla in response to a privilege notice issued against BJP MP Sanjay Jaiswal.
Response to Parliamentary Conduct
In an interview with a news media outlet, Yadav pointed out that while one can use derogatory language against historical figures like Nehru, Indira Gandhi, or Mulayam Singh in the House, it is acceptable. He questioned the legitimacy of raising 'privilege' concerns when someone protests respectfully outside the House. Yadav also expressed his readiness to clarify his position to the Speaker, having already sent a letter to him.
