Panic in Badaun Village After Buffalo's Death Linked to Dog Bite
Health Scare in Ujhani Area
A recent incident in the Ujhani region of Badaun district has caused alarm among villagers after a buffalo reportedly died from a dog bite. Following this news, approximately 200 residents rushed to the community health center to receive rabies vaccinations as a precaution.
On December 23, a thirteenth-day ceremony was held in Pipraul village, where a feast was organized for the entire community. The meal included raita made from yogurt, which many villagers consumed. It was later revealed that the buffalo, whose milk was used for the yogurt, had been bitten by a dog a few days prior.
The buffalo died on December 26, leading to widespread panic in the village over potential infection. In response to the fear, both men and women, along with youth, flocked to the Ujhani community health center over the weekend to get vaccinated against rabies.
Dr. Rameshwar Mishra, the Chief Medical Officer of Badaun district, confirmed that a buffalo had been bitten by a rabid dog, which led to its death due to rabies symptoms. The villagers' consumption of the yogurt made from the buffalo's milk raised concerns.
As a precaution, everyone was advised to get vaccinated. Dr. Mishra noted that boiling milk typically eliminates the risk of rabies, but vaccination was deemed necessary to avoid any potential danger.
Villager Jashoda Devi mentioned that during the thirteenth-day feast, everyone had consumed the raita. Upon learning about the buffalo's death and its dog bite, the villagers became anxious and sought vaccinations as a safety measure. According to the health department, there are currently no signs of illness spreading in the village, and the situation is reported to be normal.
