Pangi MLA Advocates for Local Development in Meeting with NHPC Chairman

In a recent meeting in New Delhi, Pangi MLA Dr. Janak Raj urged NHPC Chairman Bhupendra Gupta to provide job opportunities for families impacted by hydropower projects. He also advocated for the establishment of a Kendriya Vidyalaya to enhance educational prospects in the region. Gupta welcomed the proposals and assured cooperation in supporting local development initiatives. This meeting highlights the ongoing efforts to improve socio-economic conditions in the tribal belt of Pangi.

On Friday, Dr. Janak Raj, the MLA from Pangi, visited Shri Bhupendra Gupta, the Chairman and Managing Director of NHPC, in New Delhi.


During their discussion, Dr. Raj presented a memorandum that outlined requests for job opportunities for individuals impacted by NHPC’s Duggar Hydropower Project in Pangi, as well as the Phase II and III projects in Bharmaur. He also advocated for the establishment of a Kendriya Vidyalaya (Central School) in the area, seeking NHPC's assistance to enhance educational prospects for local residents.


Community Development Initiatives: Dr. Raj stressed the importance of NHPC's involvement in fostering long-term socio-economic development in the tribal regions, focusing on skill enhancement and welfare programs.


Job Creation: He called on NHPC to offer employment to families affected by the Duggar Hydropower Project and the subsequent phases in Bharmaur.


Educational Support: Dr. Raj requested NHPC's backing in setting up a Kendriya Vidyalaya to provide quality education and better opportunities for the youth in the region.


Bhupendra Gupta, who recently took over as NHPC CMD, welcomed these proposals and expressed his commitment to exploring how NHPC could assist in generating employment and enhancing educational facilities in the area.


Dr. Raj conveyed his contentment with the positive response from the NHPC chief, who assured full cooperation moving forward.
