Pakistan's Army Chief Leads Delegation to Tehran Amid US-Iran Tensions

In a significant diplomatic move, Pakistan's Chief of Army Staff, Field Marshal Asim Munir, has led a delegation to Tehran to mediate the ongoing tensions between the United States and Iran. This visit aligns with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif's official trips to Saudi Arabia and Qatar, aimed at fostering regional cooperation and security. The delegation's efforts come after recent direct talks between the US and Iran in Pakistan ended without an agreement. As Pakistan continues to facilitate dialogue, the international community watches closely for potential resolutions to this longstanding conflict.

Diplomatic Mission to Tehran

Islamabad: A delegation from Pakistan, headed by Chief of Army Staff Field Marshal Asim Munir, arrived in Tehran on Wednesday. This visit is part of Islamabad's initiative to mediate the ongoing tensions between the United States and Iran.

The military's media branch, Inter Services Public Relations, confirmed that Munir is accompanied by Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi and other officials.

This diplomatic trip coincides with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif's official visits to Saudi Arabia, Qatar, and Turkiye, which also began on Wednesday.

During his visits to Saudi Arabia and Qatar, the Prime Minister aims to engage with the leaders of these nations to discuss bilateral relations and regional stability, as stated by the Foreign Office.

These diplomatic efforts are geared towards facilitating a resolution between the US and Iran to conclude their ongoing conflict.

Previously, the US and Iran engaged in rare direct discussions in Pakistan over the weekend, but those talks concluded early Sunday without reaching an agreement.

Officials anticipate a second round of discussions in the near future, with Pakistan actively working to support these negotiations.
