Pakistan Super League 2025 Continues Without DRS Amid Tensions

The Pakistan Super League 2025 is set to continue without the Decision Review System (DRS) due to rising tensions between India and Pakistan. The league has faced logistical challenges, leading to schedule adjustments, including a revised T20I series between Pakistan and Bangladesh. Quetta Gladiators have advanced to the final, while fan reactions highlight comparisons with the IPL. As the tournament progresses, it remains to be seen how these factors will influence the remaining matches.

PSL 2025: No DRS Implementation

The Pakistan Super League (PSL) 2025 will proceed without the Decision Review System (DRS), which was previously suspended due to rising tensions at the India-Pakistan border. As reported by ESPNcricinfo, the Hawk-Eye technology team, responsible for DRS operations, did not return to Pakistan after the tournament resumed, leading to its absence in the remaining matches.

Despite the lack of DRS, the five matches played since the league's restart have gone off without major incidents. So far, neither the PSL management nor the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has released an official comment regarding the absence of the review system.

Logistical Challenges Due to Diplomatic Strains

The escalating diplomatic tensions between the two countries have impacted the league's logistics, resulting in schedule changes and operational difficulties. To minimize travel and the movement of technical equipment, a match that was originally set to take place in Multan has been moved to Lahore. Furthermore, the production crew has had to extend their stay in Pakistan to accommodate the revised schedule.

Changes to Pakistan vs Bangladesh T20I Series

The T20I series between Pakistan and Bangladesh, which was initially scheduled to kick off on May 25—the same day as the PSL final—has also been adjusted. The PCB has announced that the series will now commence three days later, on May 28, and will be shortened from five matches to three.

The Bangladesh team is expected to arrive in Lahore on May 25, where they will prepare for the series with training sessions planned for May 26 and 27. The matches will be held at Gaddafi Stadium.

PSL Playoffs: Quetta Gladiators Advance to Final

In the playoff phase of the PSL, Quetta Gladiators have secured a spot in the final for the first time since 2019, achieving a solid 30-run victory over defending champions Islamabad United. Islamabad United still has a chance to reach the final, as they will face the winner of the Eliminator match between Karachi Kings and Lahore Qalandars, which is set for Thursday at Gaddafi Stadium.

The final is scheduled for May 25, and despite the absence of DRS and logistical challenges, the tournament is progressing towards its conclusion without significant disruptions on the field.

Fan Reactions to PSL

Some fans from India have taken to social media to mock the PSL matches, drawing comparisons to the IPL after hearing the news.
