On Monday, Mohyuddin Ahmed Wani, the president of the Pakistan Hockey Federation (PHF), announced that the team's trip to India for the Hockey Asian Champions Trophy is contingent upon receiving clearance from the government. The federation is committed to adhering to any directives issued by the government, as reported by local media.

Hero Men’s Asian Champions Trophy 2026 Overview

Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann officially revealed the schedule for the Hero Men’s Asian Champions Trophy 2026 on Monday. This prestigious tournament is set to take place from October 27 to November 5, bringing international hockey to Punjab.

Participating teams include Pakistan, the defending champions India, South Korea, Malaysia, China, and Japan, with Oman and Bangladesh serving as reserve teams, according to a Hockey India announcement.

The matches will be held at two venues: the Olympian Balbir Singh Senior International Hockey Stadium in Mohali and the Olympian Surjit Singh Hockey Stadium in Jalandhar. The opening ceremony and all league matches will occur in Jalandhar from October 27 to November 2, while the semi-finals and final will be hosted in Mohali on November 4 and 5, respectively.

Wani emphasized that the Pakistan team's participation is dependent on government approval, stating, "We will comply with whatever the government instructs us to do."
