Owaisi Urges Indian Government to Reject China's Mediation Claims in India-Pakistan Tensions
Owaisi's Call for Clarity on China’s Role
Asaduddin Owaisi, the leader of AIMIM, has urged the Indian government to dismiss China's claims of mediating in the ongoing tensions between India and Pakistan. He emphasized that normalizing relations with the neighboring country should not come at the expense of India's sovereignty. Following repeated assertions by former U.S. President Donald Trump that Washington prevented a potential war between India and Pakistan, China also claimed a role in de-escalating tensions during a four-day conflict in May 2025.
In several posts, Owaisi has called on the central government to reassure citizens that after Operation Sindoor, there was no intervention from any third party between India and Pakistan.
Concerns Over China's Claims
Owaisi expressed his concerns on social media, stating that the claims made by the Chinese Foreign Minister are alarming. He described these assertions as an affront to India and insisted that the government must firmly reject them. He argued that any normalization of relations with China should not compromise India's dignity or sovereignty.
He further criticized China's attempts to position itself as a mediator while simultaneously supplying 81% of Pakistan's arms and providing real-time intelligence during Operation Sindoor. Owaisi stated that such behavior is unacceptable and that India cannot passively accept these claims.
Political Reactions and Implications
The recent claims by China have sparked a new political controversy regarding Operation Sindoor. On Wednesday, Congress MP Jairam Ramesh also launched a sharp attack on the central government, labeling the situation as a 'joke' concerning national security in New Delhi.
