Owaisi's Concerns Over Modi's Israel Trip
Asaduddin Owaisi, the leader of AIMIM, expressed his concerns on Saturday regarding Prime Minister Narendra Modi's recent visit to Israel, which he believes sent a "very wrong message" just days before Israel's attack on Tehran. Owaisi reminded the Prime Minister that India has historically maintained a neutral stance in such conflicts. He accused Israel of using Modi's visit to imply that India supports their actions and urged the Indian government to clarify its position on the matter.
Owaisi pointed out to reporters that there are approximately 10 million Indian citizens residing in Gulf countries. He questioned what message would be conveyed to these citizens following Israel's attack immediately after Modi's trip. With recent attacks in Bahrain and Qatar, and potential threats to Saudi Arabia, he emphasized that India has always remained neutral. He urged the Prime Minister and the BJP to reflect on the implications of India's 80-year legacy of neutrality, stating that a very wrong message has been communicated.
He further stated that these are questions that the Prime Minister and the BJP must address. Owaisi claimed that Israel exploited Modi's visit to justify its military actions and to project that India stands with them, labeling this as a betrayal. He raised the issue of whether Modi was informed about the impending attack, suggesting that if he was not, Israel had deceived India by using the visit as a cover for its aggression against Iran.
Owaisi questioned the accountability if such an attack had occurred while the Prime Minister was in the air. He insisted that Modi should clarify whether Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu had informed him about the planned attack on Iran. If he had been informed, Modi should have cut his trip short and returned to India immediately. Conversely, if Israel failed to notify India of its intentions to attack Iran with U.S. support, then it would mean that Israel had misled India, using Modi's visit to mask its actions against Iran and the ongoing humanitarian crisis in Gaza. This situation sends a message that India aligns with Israel rather than Iran. Owaisi concluded by questioning what benefits India gains from this attack.
