Himachal Pradesh, often referred to as Dev Bhoomi and a favored destination for tourists, is currently grappling with a heartbreaking incident involving a student named Pallavi at Dharamshala College. Allegations of ragging, sexual harassment, and ongoing mental distress have plunged the state into a state of mourning and outrage.

Manohar Dhiman, a former MLA from the Indora constituency and ex-Chairman of the General Industries Corporation, voiced his deep sorrow and anger, asserting that this incident has severely damaged Himachal Pradesh's reputation nationwide. He highlighted that if the state fails to protect its daughters, it risks losing credibility on a global scale.

Dhiman noted that Pallavi faced harassment and exploitation in isolation for an extended period. Despite her pleas for help, both the college authorities and law enforcement did not respond promptly. Alarmingly, her FIR was delayed, and recent comments from the college principal and faculty have raised eyebrows, as they seemed more intent on self-defense than on addressing the issue with the seriousness it deserves.

He raised concerns about whether Pallavi was intentionally failed in her exams to apply pressure on her, emphasizing that only a comprehensive investigation can uncover the truth. He described this incident as a “dark chapter” for Dev Bhoomi, which has now become a topic of national concern.

Dhiman called for a fair, transparent, and swift investigation, demanding the strictest penalties for those found guilty, and insisted on keeping the public updated throughout the process. “Justice for Pallavi is essential to restore trust,” he stated, stressing that the safety of women must be prioritized in a state that attracts tourists from all over India and beyond.
