Opposition's Strong Stand Against Police Action

New Delhi, July 27 - In a significant display of dissent, Rahul Gandhi, the Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha, along with Congress General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra and several other MPs from opposition parties, staged a protest in the Parliament complex on Monday. This demonstration was in response to the police's use of force against students protesting the NEET-UG exam paper leak on July 20. The gathering took place near the 'Makar Dwar' of the Parliament, where opposition MPs held a large banner reading 'Vote Theft, Paper Theft, Donation Theft'. They chanted slogans such as 'A government of batons and bullets will not be tolerated' and 'Amit Shah, answer us!'

Additionally, Congress MPs Randeep Surjewala, Syed Nasir Hussain, and Renuka Chowdhury, along with Trinamool Congress MP Sagarika Ghosh, submitted a notice under Rule 267 in the Rajya Sabha. This notice called for the suspension of listed proceedings to discuss the 'brutality' against students and to hold Home Minister Amit Shah accountable. Rahul Gandhi had previously written to Shah, demanding accountability for the 'brutal attack' on peaceful protesters in Delhi.

Gandhi questioned Shah regarding whether he had authorized the use of 'deadly weapons', including pellet guns, against the students.
