Ongoing Anti-Terror Operation in Jammu and Kashmir Enters 33rd Day

The anti-terror operation 'Operation Sheruwali' in Jammu and Kashmir has entered its 33rd day, focusing on locating armed infiltrators in the Rajouri district. Operation Sheruwali Continues in Rajouri District

The anti-terror initiative known as 'Operation Sheruwali' has now reached its 33rd day in the Dori Mal area of the Manjakot sector in Rajouri district, Jammu and Kashmir. Security forces are actively conducting extensive search operations in dense forests and rugged mountainous regions. The primary goal of this prolonged operation is to locate and neutralize armed infiltrators hiding in the area.


Multi-Agency Efforts Underway

Launched in the last week of May, this multi-agency operation is focused on the thick forested areas of Rajouri district. According to security agencies, the operation is progressing as planned, with all forces maintaining high vigilance in their duties. Continuous monitoring is being conducted in the forests and hilly terrains to ensure immediate action against any suspicious activities and to guarantee the safety of local residents.


Commitment to Peace and Security

Officials have stated that security forces are fully committed to maintaining peace and security in the region. Additional checkpoints have been established, and regular patrols are being conducted to assert dominance in the area. Recent Incident in Naushera Sector

It is also noteworthy that on June 16, an accidental landmine explosion occurred during a patrol in the Kalal area of the Naushera sector, near the Line of Control. According to Jammu and Kashmir police officials, around 11 AM, a unit from the Kumaon regiment was on a routine patrol when the explosion took place. Three soldiers, including a junior commissioned officer, were injured in the incident. The injured personnel were promptly evacuated for first aid and later admitted to the command hospital in Udhampur for specialized medical care. Officials reported that treatment for all injured soldiers is ongoing.


Ongoing Security Operations

The continuous security operations in the border areas of Rajouri and Naushera clearly indicate that security forces are diligently working to thwart any attempts of terrorism and infiltration. The search, surveillance, and patrolling efforts will persist to maintain peace in the region.


Review of Amarnath Yatra Security Arrangements

Meanwhile, the Director General of Police (DGP) of Jammu and Kashmir, Nalin Prabhat, has reviewed anti-terror measures and security arrangements for the upcoming Amarnath Yatra. A police spokesperson stated that the DGP chaired a comprehensive security review meeting to assess anti-terror measures and security arrangements for the upcoming Shri Amarnathji Yatra 2026. Senior officials from various security forces stationed in South Kashmir, including the Central Reserve Police Force, Border Security Force, Indo-Tibetan Border Police, and Victor Force, participated in the meeting. Senior Superintendents of Police (SSPs) from relevant districts provided detailed presentations on the current security situation, anti-terror operations, and the multi-layered security arrangements being prepared for the pilgrimage. The DGP emphasized the need for better coordination among various security agencies to ensure the safe and smooth conduct of the annual pilgrimage. Mock drills regarding security are currently being conducted across Jammu and Kashmir.


Details of the Amarnath Yatra

The Amarnath Yatra, which will last for 57 days, is set to commence on July 3. The pilgrimage will be conducted via two routes: the traditional 48-kilometer Nunwan-Pahalgam route and the relatively shorter yet more challenging 14-kilometer Baltal route. The journey will conclude on August 28, coinciding with the festival of Raksha Bandhan.
