GUWAHATI, May 8: A year has elapsed since India initiated Operation Sindoor in response to the tragic deaths of 26 tourists in Pahalgam, attributed to terrorists backed by Pakistan. Despite this military action, Pakistan appears to have ignored the lessons from the operation, continuing to harbor and support terrorist organizations.

Security experts assert that the terrorism emanating from Pakistan can be classified as 'state-sponsored,' with groups receiving financial backing and other forms of assistance from the Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI). Key leaders of various terrorist factions remain active within Pakistan, demonstrating a lack of accountability.

Reports indicate that Pakistan actively supports terrorism in Jammu and Kashmir through recruitment, training, infiltration, and the provision of weapons and funding to militant groups.

Since the rise of Pakistan-sponsored terrorism in 1988, Jammu and Kashmir has witnessed 63,110 incidents related to terror, with 31,791 targeting security personnel and 19,452 affecting civilians. The toll from these attacks has reached 47,841 lives, including 16,199 civilians, 6,270 security forces, and 25,372 terrorists.

Current intelligence suggests that there are 12 operational terror training camps in Pakistan, where new recruits are trained in advanced weaponry and ideological indoctrination.

To facilitate infiltration into India, 141 launch pads are reportedly active in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir and Pakistan. The Pakistan Army frequently engages in cross-border firing and targeted actions against Indian forces stationed along the border to aid these infiltration attempts.

Historically, around 30 different terrorist organizations have been supported by Pakistan to operate in Jammu and Kashmir. Observers note that such a large number of terror camps could not function without government backing. India had hoped that Pakistan would reconsider its stance following Operation Sindoor, but the continued support for terrorism suggests otherwise.
