Emergency Measures in Odisha Amid Rising Floodwaters

Bhubaneswar: The Odisha government has instructed district collectors in Jajpur, Bhadrak, and Balasore to evacuate individuals from vulnerable low-lying regions and initiate relief efforts as floodwaters continue to rise, according to sources on Saturday.

To manage the escalating situation, two senior engineers from the Water Resources Department have been dispatched to the Subarnarekha and Baitarani river basins, following significant rainfall in the Mayurbhanj and Keonjhar districts.

Official reports indicate that water levels in the Subarnarekha, Jalaka, and Baitarani rivers are increasing steadily.

The State Flood Control Cell, part of the Water Resources Department, is actively monitoring the situation around the clock.

Chief engineers and basin managers overseeing the Subarnarekha-Budhabalang, Mahanadi-Brahmani-Baitarani, and Baitarani systems are collaborating with district administrations to coordinate field responses.
