Odisha's Ravenshaw University Tops Admission Cut-Offs for 2026-27 Academic Year

The Odisha Higher Education Department has unveiled the first merit list for undergraduate admissions for the 2026-27 academic session, with Ravenshaw University leading in cut-off marks. A total of 1,78,782 candidates have been selected, highlighting significant female participation. The Arts stream recorded the highest selections, followed by Science and Commerce. Notably, Ravenshaw University achieved impressive cut-offs, including 94.50% for Political Science and 96.50% for Physics. This year's admissions reflect a growing trend in higher education participation among women.
 

Merit List Released for Undergraduate Admissions


Bhubaneswar: The Higher Education Department of Odisha has announced the initial merit list for undergraduate (UG) admissions for the academic year 2026–27.


Ravenshaw University in Cuttack has emerged as the leading choice among students, achieving the highest cut-off marks in various disciplines. Official statistics reveal that out of a total of 2,87,327 available seats, 2,37,200 students applied for admission.


From this pool, 1,78,782 candidates have been chosen in the first round. The selected group includes 1,09,591 female students, 69,182 male students, and nine transgender applicants, showcasing a notable increase in female participation in higher education this year.


The Arts stream saw the most selections, totaling 1,12,822 students, followed by Science with 43,693 and Commerce with 15,624 students.


Additionally, 3,371 students were accepted into the Shastri stream, 3,245 into self-financing courses, and 167 into Law programs. Ravenshaw University recorded the highest cut-off in Arts at 94.50% for Political Science. In the Science stream, the top cut-offs were 96.50% in Physics (Physical Science) and 94.83% in Zoology (Biological Science).


For Commerce, the highest cut-off was 89.17%. In the Shastri stream, Brajakishore Sanskrit Degree College, Garhbishnupur, had the highest cut-off at 67.57%. Buxi Jagabandhu Bidyadhar (Autonomous) College in Bhubaneswar reported a top cut-off of 92% in Computer Science for self-financing courses.
