Odisha's New Bhawan: A Cultural Hub in the Capital!
Foundation Laid for New Odisha Bhawan
New Delhi: On Thursday, Chief Minister of Odisha, Mohan Charan Majhi, officially inaugurated the foundation for a new Odisha Bhawan located on Kautilya Marg in Chanakyapuri.
The ceremony was attended by notable figures including Union Tribal Affairs Minister Jual Oram, Odisha PWD Minister Prithviraj Harichandan, Bargarh MP Pradeep Purohit, and senior officials like Principal Secretary Sanjay Kumar Singh.
This ambitious project, with an estimated budget of Rs 93.27 crore, will comprise 45 rooms and suites, an exhibition area, and a state-of-the-art conference hall. The architectural design aims to showcase the rich art, heritage, and culture of Odisha.
Majhi also revealed plans for additional Odisha Bhawans to be established in Ayodhya, Bengaluru, Surat, and another in Mumbai, with land already secured for these developments. Currently, Odisha Bhawans are operational in Kolkata, Chennai, and Mumbai.
To ensure these facilities are well-maintained, the state government will create a specialized division responsible for the upkeep of all Odisha Bhawans and Sadans. Additionally, a Janashraya Bhavan will be constructed near Master Canteen Square in Bhubaneswar to offer affordable lodging for visitors to the capital.
