Legal Measures Against Information Leaks

Bhubaneswar: On Monday, Odisha's Law Minister Prithiviraj Harichandan announced that stringent legal actions will be enforced against anyone found leaking sensitive information to operatives in Pakistan.

This declaration follows an ongoing police investigation into potential connections between a YouTuber from Puri and Jyoti Malhotra, who was apprehended for allegedly transmitting sensitive data to Pakistani intelligence.

Harichandan informed the press that the National Investigation Agency (NIA) is actively probing the matter concerning the sharing of sensitive information with the neighboring nation.

He emphasized, "Anyone linked to this network will be investigated. We will take strict measures against those involved, whether they directly participated in espionage or aided such activities in any capacity. No one will escape scrutiny."

When questioned about the possible involvement of the Odisha YouTuber in the espionage allegations, he stated, "If there is any connection, the NIA will handle it appropriately. Should any link be confirmed, we will treat the situation with utmost seriousness."

Jyoti Malhotra, the YouTuber arrested by Haryana Police, had visited significant sites in Odisha, including the Jagannath temple, Konark, and Chilika. She had been in contact with the Odisha-based YouTuber, and the Crime Branch's IGP, Sarthak Sarangi, mentioned that they are currently verifying the details, with no substantial evidence emerging yet.

In response to the situation, the Puri YouTuber took to social media, stating, "Jyoti was merely a friend I met through YouTube. I had no knowledge of her alleged activities. Had I known she was involved in espionage for Pakistan, I would have severed ties with her."

She further added, "If any investigative agency wishes to question me, I will fully cooperate. The nation comes first. Jai Hind," in her Instagram post.
