Odisha's Governor Proposes Cultural Ties with Vietnam's Da Nang

Odisha's Governor, Hari Babu Kambhampati, has proposed establishing provincial-level ties with Da Nang, Vietnam, during his visit to return Lord Buddha's relics. He highlighted Odisha's rich cultural heritage and significant Buddhist sites, suggesting potential collaboration in various sectors. Kambhampati emphasized the historical connection between India and Vietnam through Buddhism and noted the growing cooperation in trade, defense, and tourism. The proposal aims to strengthen cultural and economic relations between the two regions, facilitated by increased direct flights enhancing people-to-people contact.
 

Strengthening Bonds Between Odisha and Da Nang


Bhubaneswar: The Governor of Odisha, Hari Babu Kambhampati, has suggested the idea of establishing provincial-level connections between Odisha and Da Nang, Vietnam.


This proposal was made during his recent trip to Vietnam, where he accompanied the sacred relics of Lord Buddha back to India.


During a meeting with Le Trung Chinh, the chairman of the Da Nang People's Committee, Kambhampati emphasized Odisha's rich historical background, vibrant cultural traditions, and rapid economic development.


"Odisha is home to numerous significant Buddhist sites. If Da Nang is interested, we could explore the possibility of fostering ties between our regions," he stated.


He highlighted that Buddhism has served as a vital link between India and Vietnam for nearly 1,800 years.


Kambhampati expressed India's commitment to preserving and promoting its Buddhist heritage.


He noted that collaboration between the two nations is growing in various sectors, including trade, defense, tourism, health, digital economy, education, and sustainable development.


The increase in direct flights between India and Vietnam has significantly enhanced interpersonal connections, he added.
