Odisha Youth Congress Takes Bold Steps to Empower Young Voters
Youth Congress Meeting in Bhubaneswar
In Bhubaneswar, the Odisha Pradesh Youth Congress convened its executive meeting at the state Congress headquarters on Saturday.
The session, led by Ranjit Patra, the state Youth Congress president, saw participation from Bhakta Charan Das, the president of the Odisha Pradesh Congress Committee (OPCC), along with various senior and youth leaders.
Das emphasized the need for the Youth Congress to enhance its grassroots presence and independently initiate programs aimed at engaging the youth.
He called for the organization to lead movements against the current government, starting from the booth level.
Das claimed that for the last 25 years, the youth of Odisha have faced suppression, neglect, and victimization, particularly in light of increasing unemployment.
He highlighted that approximately 1.1 million unemployed youth have registered for jobs and are now voicing their discontent through protests.
Mahesh Deshmukh introduced a draft action plan for the upcoming three months, outlining strategies for protests, awareness campaigns, and organizational activities across various districts and assembly constituencies.
He encouraged state office-bearers to dedicate more time to grassroots efforts to fortify the Youth Congress network.
Patra, addressing the attendees, stated that the organization has been a voice for the overlooked youth of Odisha.
He accused the government of neglecting Odia youth in recruitment processes within both public and private sectors, promising that the Youth Congress would soon initiate protests to address this issue.
Earlier that day, the OPCC established a 'Youth Connect Committee' under the guidance of Bhakta Charan Das, aimed at re-engaging young individuals and solidifying the party's grassroots foundation.
