AI Labs to Enhance Skill Training in Odisha
On Friday, Odisha's Chief Minister Mohan Chandra Majhi announced the establishment of artificial intelligence (AI) laboratories in nine industrial training institutes (ITIs) across the state. Speaking at the closing ceremony of the 'Odisha Skill Competition 2025-26', he revealed plans to develop a total of 47 ITIs into centers of excellence.
The Chief Minister highlighted that Odisha has embarked on a significant industrialization journey. He urged students to acquire skills that would enable them to secure employment within the state.
During the skill competition, Majhi awarded gold medals to 54 students, silver medals to 53, and bronze medals to 50, stating, "Our aim is to achieve excellence at all levels." Gold medalists received a cash prize of ₹25,000, silver medalists got ₹20,000, and bronze medalists were awarded ₹15,000.
Majhi emphasized the importance of skills for the long-term development and economic progress of the state. He noted, "A skilled individual is more confident. To realize the vision of a prosperous Odisha by 2036 and a developed India by 2047, we need skilled youth. If the future of our youth is bright, then the future of Odisha will also be bright."
He outlined three key pillars for the state's industrialization: infrastructure, a conducive environment, and skilled labor. The Chief Minister mentioned that in the past 18 months, projects worth ₹6.15 lakh crore have been approved, which have the potential to create 2.64 lakh jobs.
