Odisha Government Boosts Civil Defence Volunteers' Allowances Significantly
Increased Allowances for Civil Defence Volunteers
Bhubaneswar: On Friday, the Odisha government announced a substantial increase in the daily duty allowance for civil defence volunteers, raising it from Rs 31 to Rs 150, according to officials.
Additionally, the daily training allowance for these volunteers has been raised from Rs 28 to Rs 140.
This decision was sanctioned by Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi.
The revised allowances will take effect retroactively from May 2025, as stated by the Chief Minister's Office (CMO).
Currently, Odisha has approximately 700 civil defence volunteers.
Moreover, the state government has also raised the daily duty call-up allowance for home guards from Rs 612 to Rs 623, effective retroactively from January 1 of this year, the CMO confirmed.
