The Nurpur Police District has made significant progress in a cyber fraud case, successfully retrieving ₹17.50 lakh out of a total fraud amount of ₹18.73 lakh. The case originated at the Jawali Police Station following a complaint lodged by Sham Lal, son of Shri Ratna Chand, who resides in Samkehar, Post Office Jhonka Ratiyal, Tehsil Jawali, District Kangra, Himachal Pradesh.
As per the complaint, unknown cyber criminals gained unauthorized access to the complainant’s mobile device and illicitly withdrew ₹18,73,000 using the YONO banking application. In response to the complaint, FIR No. 192/25 was filed on 24.12.2025 under Section 318(4) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
The Cyber Cell of the District Police in Nurpur acted promptly and professionally. Through thorough investigations, technical assessments, and collaboration with the 1930 Cyber Helpline, the police managed to recover ₹17.50 lakh of the stolen funds and returned it to the victim within five days.
Legal actions related to the case are currently in progress.
