Nurpur Police Launches Awareness Campaign for Students

The Nurpur Police District has successfully launched an awareness campaign in local schools, reaching over 1,000 students and teachers. This initiative aims to educate youth on various critical topics, including drug abuse, cybercrime, and personal safety. Engaging sessions allowed students to interact directly with police officers, fostering a sense of responsibility and empowerment. The police department plans to continue these campaigns to ensure that young citizens are well-informed and prepared to navigate societal challenges.

Today, the Nurpur Police District initiated a comprehensive awareness campaign across multiple schools, reaching out to over 1,000 students and educators. This initiative, facilitated by local police stations and outposts, aims to steer the youth towards becoming responsible and law-abiding citizens.


Schools Involved

The awareness sessions took place in schools located in Khatiyar, Jawali, Makdahan, Kotla, Trilokpur, Charudi, Sukkad, Majra, Gangwal, Sadwan, Barot, Indora, Basantpur, Baranda, Rehan, and Dehri.


Topics Covered in the Awareness Sessions

Police officers educated students on various critical topics, including:



  • ERSS (112): Understanding the Emergency Response Support System and how to request police assistance in emergencies.

  • Drug Abuse (NDPS): The risks associated with narcotics, particularly synthetic drugs like chitta, and the significance of maintaining a drug-free lifestyle.

  • Cybercrime: Tips for avoiding online scams, ensuring data security, and safe practices for internet banking.

  • POCSO Act: Legal measures in place to safeguard children from sexual offenses.

  • Good Touch & Bad Touch: Teaching children about personal safety and identifying inappropriate behavior.

  • Traffic Rules (Motor Vehicle Act): Importance of road safety and compliance with traffic laws.

  • Know Your Rights: Educating students about their fundamental legal and constitutional rights.

  • Women’s Safety: Understanding women's legal rights and awareness regarding workplace harassment.


Engagement and Future Initiatives

The interactive sessions witnessed active participation, with students engaging with police officers to ask questions and express their concerns.
