In a significant move against illegal drug trafficking, the Nurpur Police have ramped up their efforts, resulting in the recovery of 18.78 grams of heroin (chitta) and the apprehension of three suspects during two separate operations. Additionally, two motorcycles linked to the crimes were confiscated.

First Operation – Dumtal Police Station

Details of the First Case On 12 September 2026, while on patrol in Dumtal, CIA Nurpur received a tip-off that led them to the railway underbridge near the Guru Ravidas Temple link road. With independent witnesses present, officers searched a TVS Raider motorcycle (HP 97A 7694) and discovered 10.62 grams of heroin hidden beneath the seat.

Accused: Munish Kumar alias Mannu (26), son of Tilak Raj, from Bhadroya, Tehsil Indora, District Kangra.

Legal Action: A case has been filed under NDPS Act Sections 21, 25 at Dumtal Police Station (FIR No. 145/2026).

Second Operation – Nurpur Police Station

Details of the Second Case In the early hours of 13 September 2026, CIA Nurpur intercepted a Royal Enfield motorcycle near the old bus stand in Jasur. A search revealed 8.16 grams of heroin concealed under the seat. Initial investigations indicate that the drugs were sourced from outside the area.

Accused: Rahul and another unidentified individual.

Legal Action: A case has been registered under NDPS Act Sections 21, 29 at Nurpur Police Station (FIR No. 232/2026).

Three Major Actions in 24 Hours These two operations are part of a broader crackdown, which also included the arrest of a government bus driver found with 3.700 kg of poppy husk (chura post) within the same 24-hour timeframe.
