Nurpur Police Enforces Preventive Detention to Combat Drug Trafficking

In a significant step to tackle drug trafficking, the Nurpur Police have initiated preventive measures under the PIT ND&PS Act, 1988 against a repeat offender.
The individual, identified as Lucky (34), son of Raghunath, from Village Ghar, Post Office Harsar, Tehsil Jawali, District Kangra, has been detained under Section 3(1) of the Act.
According to police documentation, Lucky has a history of three previous cases filed under the ND&PS Act at both Jawali and Nurpur police stations. Despite facing multiple arrests and legal actions, he persisted in his involvement in the illegal drug trade.
Following a detention order from the Himachal Pradesh Government's Home Department, Lucky was apprehended on March 6, 2026, and is currently held at District Jail Dharamshala, Kangra, where he will remain in preventive custody for a duration of three months.
The Nurpur Police have reaffirmed their dedication to taking stringent measures against individuals engaged in the illegal drug trade, aiming to effectively curb such activities in the future.
