Major Breakthrough in Nurpur Theft Investigation

The Nurpur Police have made significant progress in resolving a theft incident reported at the local police station, documented under FIR No. 119/2026 on May 7, 2026, involving violations of Sections 331(3) and 305 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) 2023.


The theft was reported by Mrs. Anupam Guleria, the spouse of Shri Bhaskar Singh, who resides in VPO Khushinagar, Tehsil Nurpur, District Kangra (H.P.). She stated that on May 5, 2026, an intruder broke through the window's grill and mesh, gaining access to her home and stealing valuable gold and silver jewelry along with cash.


In response to the incident, the Nurpur Police promptly initiated an investigation. They meticulously reviewed CCTV footage from the vicinity, which led to the identification of a suspect. The police acted quickly, apprehending the individual on May 14, 2026.


Details of the Suspect:



  • Pawan Kumar, son of Vinod Baba, residing near Shiv Mandir Cremation Ground, Jugiyal Shahpurkandi, Pathankot.


Authorities have confirmed that Pawan Kumar has a history of criminal activity, with several theft charges filed against him at the Rehan Police Station in Nurpur district and in Punjab. The investigation is ongoing.


The Nurpur Police have encouraged the community to report any suspicious behavior immediately. The district police are dedicated to enforcing strict measures against criminal activities.
