Nurpur Police Crack Down on Drug Trade: Three Arrested with Charas and Heroin

In a significant crackdown on drug trafficking, Nurpur Police arrested three individuals and seized over 116 grams of charas and 10.47 grams of heroin during two operations on October 8, 2026. The police are urging the community to assist in reporting drug-related activities, emphasizing the need for public cooperation in combating this serious social issue. Police Operations Lead to Drug Seizures


Three Arrested, Significant Drug Haul


In a determined effort to combat the illegal drug trade, the Nurpur Police executed two operations on October 8, 2026, resulting in the arrest of three individuals and the confiscation of 116 grams of charas and 10.47 grams of heroin. Additionally, one vehicle was seized in each operation.


Operation 1: Charas Seizure and Arrest


While conducting patrols near Palin, Jaunta on NH-154, the CIA unit stopped a vehicle for inspection. During the search, 116 grams of charas was discovered concealed beneath the steering cover. The arrested individual was identified as Kaku (33), son of Veeru, from Rikhwani in Chamba district. The vehicle involved was HP 81-5184, and an FIR No. 252/2026 was filed under Section 20 of the ND&PS Act at the Nurpur Police Station.


Operation 2: Heroin Seizure and Two Arrests


Following a tip-off, the CIA team established a checkpoint outside the Kandwal Police Post on NH-154. They halted a white Tata Altroz car, uncovering 10.47 grams of heroin hidden under the driver's foot mat. The arrested suspects include:



  1. Rakesh Kumar, son of Amar Singh, from Jaunta, Nurpur.

  2. Gaurav Kumar, son of Ashok Kumar, from Khajjian, Nurpur. The vehicle involved was HP 28C-3330, and an FIR No. 255/2026 was registered under Sections 21, 25 & 29 of the ND&PS Act at the Nurpur Police Station.

The issue of drugs poses a serious threat to society, and their elimination necessitates the active involvement of citizens.
