Protests Erupt Across Karnataka

The National Students' Union of India (NSUI) has condemned the cancellation of the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test for Undergraduate (NEET-UG) following allegations of a question paper leak. On Wednesday, protests took place in various regions of Karnataka.

Demonstrators accused officials of failing to uphold the integrity of this national entrance examination. Protests were held in cities including Bengaluru, Mysuru, Chikkaballapur, Hubli, Raichur, and Bagalkot. During these demonstrations, students chanted slogans against the alleged irregularities in the exam and demanded strict action against those responsible for the leak.

One NSUI leader stated, “If officials are unable to conduct a national-level eligibility exam properly, it raises serious questions about the credibility of the entire examination system.” Leaders from the NSUI noted that a significant number of party workers participated in the protests, while some activists were detained during demonstrations in various districts.

Protesters also criticized the central government for the recurring controversies surrounding national examinations. In Bengaluru, NSUI members staged a protest outside the residence of BJP MP K. Sudhakar, who previously served as Karnataka's Minister of Health and Medical Education during the BJP government.
