NSUI Celebrates 56th Foundation Day with 'Run Against Chitta' Marathon

The National Students’ Union of India (NSUI) in District Mandi celebrated its 56th Foundation Day by hosting a 5-kilometre marathon named 'Run Against Chitta'. This event aimed to raise awareness about the increasing issue of drug abuse and to inspire the youth to embrace healthier lifestyles.
Over 100 enthusiastic participants joined the marathon, collectively promoting the message of a drug-free community. The race commenced at Seri Stage, traversed significant routes in the town, and concluded back at the starting point, garnering support from local residents.
Deepak Sharma, the Chief Guest, received a warm welcome adorned with a Himachali cap, shawl, and garland. He engaged with the participants and commended their commitment to a socially important cause.
In his address, Sharma highlighted drug abuse as a pressing societal challenge and stressed the vital role of youth in combating this issue. He regarded the marathon as a significant step towards fostering positive social change.
District NSUI President Anit Jaswal emphasized that the marathon was not just a sporting event but a dedicated awareness initiative aimed at steering young individuals away from substance abuse. He assured that similar initiatives would persist in the future to bolster the anti-drug movement.
Winners of the marathon received cash prizes of ₹3100, ₹2100, and ₹1100, while all participants were awarded medals, certificates, and refreshments.
Notable attendees included Municipal Corporation councillors Yashkant Kashyap and Sanjay Sharma, former District Congress Committee Vice President Labh Singh, NSUI State Secretary Bhawani Thakur, athlete Chaman, and AFG Academy Managing Director Santosh.
The event wrapped up with organizers expressing their gratitude to all participants, supporters, and local administration for their collaboration.
The overarching message resonated throughout the event: when the youth take initiative, society can achieve meaningful change.
