Arrest of NSCN Cadre in Tirap District


Itanagar, Dec 6: Authorities reported the arrest of an active member of the banned National Socialist Council of Nagaland (NSCN) (K–Niki Sumi) faction in the Tirap district of Arunachal Pradesh on Saturday.


Following a tip-off, a collaborative operation was executed by the Assam Rifles and local police in the Hukanjuri area on Thursday, leading to the capture of Jenlong Supong, who holds the title of self-styled captain within the outlawed group.


During the operation, security personnel seized a pistol, a magazine, six cartridges, a mobile phone, and a PAN card from Supong's possession.


He was subsequently transferred to the Khonsa Police Station along with the confiscated items for further investigation and legal action.


Officials emphasized that this operation showcases the ongoing dedication, alertness, and effective collaboration between central and state security forces in ensuring stability in Arunachal Pradesh.


"Such intelligence-led operations are vital for controlling insurgent activities and enhancing security in sensitive border regions," one official remarked.
