NSA Imposed on Two Arrested in Cow Slaughter Case in Indore
Indore District Administration Takes Action
The Indore district administration has invoked the National Security Act (NSA) against two individuals arrested in connection with a cow slaughter case in Mahu. According to police officials, efforts are ongoing to locate two additional suspects who remain at large. Speaking to a news outlet, Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Umakant Chaudhary stated that the case was registered on May 29, the day after Eid-ul-Adha, against four individuals named Kadir, Imran, Hashim, and Mohammad Abad for cow slaughter.
Chaudhary mentioned that Kadir was apprehended at the scene, while the other three fled. Subsequently, multiple police teams were deployed to capture the remaining suspects. Eventually, another accused, Mohammad Abad, was also taken into custody.
Legal Proceedings Under NSA
The Superintendent of Police (SP) for the rural area submitted a report to the district collector for action under the NSA. Officials indicated that the accused had prior cases registered against them for cow slaughter and disturbing public peace. Following the collector's directives, action was taken under the NSA on Tuesday, June 2. In total, there are four accused, with NSA charges applied to the two arrested individuals. The other two suspects, Imran and Hashim, are still on the run.
DSP Chaudhary noted that a Special Investigation Team (SIT) has been formed by the Superintendent of Police, and additional teams are actively working to apprehend the two fugitives. The accused face charges under relevant sections 4, 5, and 9 of the Madhya Pradesh Cow Slaughter Prohibition Act, as well as section 25(1)(a) of the Arms Act. He further stated that the investigation into the case is ongoing.
