Successful Conclusion of National Coaches Course

The National Rifle Association of India (NRAI), in partnership with the Jharkhand State Rifle Association, wrapped up a week-long National Coaches Course on Sunday. This initiative underscores their dedication to enhancing grassroots coaching and establishing a scientifically-based framework for shooting sports in the country.

Course Overview and Participation

The course attracted 33 coaches from five different states, with a notable representation of 19 coaches from Jharkhand, as reported by the NRAI.

A Comprehensive and Intensive Program

This training program was meticulously designed to blend technical skills with sports science, coaching methods, and hands-on practice, ensuring a well-rounded educational experience for all attendees. Sessions were led by Olympian and Indian Team Coach Sanjeev Rajput alongside Indian Team Coach Vidya Jadav, focusing on essential areas such as weapon handling, shooting techniques, error correction, and competition readiness.

Integration of Sports Science

A significant highlight of the program was its incorporation of sports science, where expert-led sessions equipped coaches with practical strategies to boost athlete performance.

Sports Psychology and Mental Well-being

Nanaki Chadha conducted a session on Sports Psychology, addressing the mental aspects of performance and well-being. Coaches learned about performance profiling, goal setting, anxiety management, confidence enhancement, and effective communication with athletes, all aimed at fostering psychologically safe training environments.

Nutrition, Hydration, and Recovery

Charvi Bajaj led a module on Nutrition, focusing on fueling strategies, hydration, and recovery, which are crucial for maintaining consistency and enhancing performance.

Strength and Conditioning for Shooters

Vijendra Pal Singh emphasized the importance of stability, posture, muscular endurance, and fatigue management in his Strength & Conditioning session, providing practical warm-up and cool-down routines tailored for shooting athletes.

Understanding Human Anatomy and Biomechanics

P N Vineel Kumar's sessions on Human Anatomy offered coaches insights into the human body's role in shooting performance, covering biomechanics, muscle engagement, posture alignment, and joint stability. This knowledge helps coaches identify technical errors related to physical limitations and improve athlete efficiency through enhanced body awareness.

Building Effective Communication Skills

Salil Srivastava's session on Communication Skills focused on fostering strong coach-athlete relationships through clear, structured, and empathetic communication. The importance of active listening, constructive feedback, conflict resolution, and motivational techniques was emphasized, aiding coaches in creating a positive and high-performance training atmosphere.

Assessment and Future Development

The course concluded with a formal assessment to evaluate participants' comprehension. Moving forward, coaches will undertake a practical field project, collaborating with athletes and presenting their findings over the next two months. The second phase will take place in Jamshedpur, where participants will showcase their work and continue their development under the NRAI education pathway. Successful completion of both phases will earn participants an official NRAI certificate.

Enhancing Coaching Quality in the Region

JSRA President Diwakar Singh stated that similar sessions will be held regularly in Jharkhand to further improve coaching quality in the area. This initiative aligns with NRAI's ongoing vision to cultivate well-rounded, scientifically informed coaches who can elevate performance at all levels and contribute to the overall advancement of shooting sports in India.
