His only son, Nishant Kumar, is set to officially join the Janata Dal (United) on Sunday, March 8. Speculations are rife that he may be appointed as the Deputy Chief Minister in the new state government.

Party Leaders Support Nishant's Political Entry

Members and leaders of the JD(U) have been vocal about their desire for Nishant to enter politics. This demand was reiterated during a meeting on Friday, where party leaders expressed that Nishant would be the ideal candidate to succeed his father. Notably, during this meeting, Nitish Kumar mentioned that even after becoming a member of the Rajya Sabha, he would continue to oversee party affairs.

With Nitish Kumar moving to the upper house, it is anticipated that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) will have its first Chief Minister in Bihar. Sources indicated on Friday that Nishant is likely to be appointed as the Deputy Chief Minister.
