Nitish Kumar's Legacy Transition: Son Nishant to Join Politics
Nishant Kumar Steps into Politics
In Bihar's political landscape, Nitish Kumar, who has remained 'unbeatable' for the past two decades, is preparing to hand over the reins of his legacy to the next generation. His only son, Nishant Kumar, is set to officially join the Janata Dal (United) on Sunday, March 8. Speculations are rife that he may be appointed as the Deputy Chief Minister in the new state government.
Party Leaders Support Nishant's Political Entry
Members and leaders of the JD(U) have been vocal about their desire for Nishant to enter politics. This demand was reiterated during a meeting on Friday, where party leaders expressed that Nishant would be the ideal candidate to succeed his father. Notably, during this meeting, Nitish Kumar mentioned that even after becoming a member of the Rajya Sabha, he would continue to oversee party affairs.
Nishant Expected to Become Bihar's Next Deputy CM
With Nitish Kumar moving to the upper house, it is anticipated that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) will have its first Chief Minister in Bihar. Sources indicated on Friday that Nishant is likely to be appointed as the Deputy Chief Minister. There are also calls for Nitish to be made the JD(U) chief, as his leadership could help prevent divisions within the party. Discussions are ongoing regarding other potential candidates for the top position, including Union Minister Lalan Singh, Bihar Ministers Ashok Chaudhary and Vijay Chaudhary, and Sanjay Kumar Jha.
Nitish Kumar's Transition to Rajya Sabha
As the longest-serving Chief Minister of Bihar, Nitish Kumar is now set to join the Rajya Sabha. On Thursday, he expressed that it has always been his aspiration to be a member of both houses of Parliament as well as both houses of the Bihar Legislature. He assured that he would fully support and cooperate with the next government in Bihar.
A Message of Gratitude
In a post on X, he stated, "For over two decades, you have consistently shown your trust and support in me, and it is this trust that has enabled us to serve Bihar and all of you with dedication. It is your faith and support that has given Bihar a new dimension of development and respect today." He further assured, "I want to sincerely promise you that my relationship with you will continue in the future, and I am committed to working together to create a developed Bihar. The new government will receive my full support and guidance."
