Murder Investigation in Raigad District
In Raigad district, Maharashtra, police apprehended nine individuals, including a woman, on Saturday in relation to the murder of the husband of a newly elected Shiv Sena councillor. Authorities confirmed the arrests.
According to officials, Mangesh Sadashiv Kalokhe, also known as Appa, was pursued and killed by a group of assailants on Friday in Khopoli. Appa, aged 45, was returning home after dropping his daughters off at school when he was attacked in the Vihari area.
An official revealed that Appa was the spouse of Mansi Kalokhe, the newly elected councillor affiliated with the Shiv Sena led by Eknath Shinde. During the investigation, Raigad police arrested the main suspect, Ravindra Devkar, along with Darshan Devkar and six others from the Nagothane area.
The officer indicated that the motive behind the murder stemmed from political rivalry between Mansi Kalokhe and her opponent, who had recently lost in the local body elections.
