Nilesh Narayan Rane Dismisses Allegations of Financial Transactions in Shiv Sena Split

In a recent political exchange, Shiv Sena MLA Nilesh Narayan Rane has strongly denied allegations made by MP Sanjay Raut regarding financial transactions linked to the defection of six MPs to Eknath Shinde's faction. Rane challenged Raut to provide evidence for his claims, criticizing his credibility. This controversy arises amid significant political shifts in Maharashtra, where the Uddhav Thackeray faction has accused defectors of betraying party ideology. As tensions rise, the dynamics within Shiv Sena continue to evolve, prompting discussions about loyalty and political integrity.

Rane Challenges Raut's Claims

Shiv Sena MLA Nilesh Narayan Rane has rejected the allegations made by Shiv Sena (UBT) MP Sanjay Raut, who claimed that financial transactions were involved in the defection of six MPs to the faction led by Eknath Shinde. In a conversation with a news agency, Rane challenged Raut to provide evidence for his claims, criticizing him for making unfounded statements. He questioned, 'Does he have any proof? On what basis is he claiming that money was exchanged? Was he involved in hawala? Why should I respond to his questions? He is a person of dubious character.'

Context of the Allegations

Rane's remarks came in response to Raut's accusations that several rebel MPs, including Omraje Nimbalkar from Dharashiv, betrayed the Shiv Sena ideology for monetary gain. Raut described the division within the party as detrimental to Maharashtra. Amidst the ongoing political turmoil, six MPs from the Uddhav Thackeray faction joined Shinde's Shiv Sena. During a media briefing, Maharashtra's Deputy Chief Minister and Shiv Sena leader Eknath Shinde named the six MPs: Sanjay Haribhau Jadhav, Bhausaheb Rajaram Wakchoure, Omprakash Bhupalsingh Nimbalkar, Sanjay Dina Patil, Sanjay Uttamrao Deshmukh, and Nagesh Bapurao Patil Ashtikar.

Political Dynamics and Reactions

Shinde remarked, 'We have three Sanjays with us here. There is another Sanjay Rathod (MLA) with us. When we have our Sanjays, there is no need to discuss any other Sanjay, and you know who I am referring to.' The Uddhav Thackeray faction has accused the defecting legislators of betraying the party's ideology and the voters' mandate, while leaders from the Shinde faction have characterized this move as a return of 'true Shiv Sainiks' to the party founded by Balasaheb Thackeray.
