New Delhi, August 21: Authorities in Dwarka have apprehended a 26-year-old Nigerian man, previously wanted in a narcotics case, and seized 8.43 grams of amphetamine from him, as reported by officials on Friday.

The arrest was executed by the Anti-Narcotics Cell during a special initiative named 'Operation VISTA 1.0', aimed at identifying overstaying foreigners and monitoring suspicious individuals in hotels.

Officials indicated that the operation was recently initiated by the Delhi Police Commissioner to address the issue of foreigners overstaying their visas. Under the guidance of Dwarka's Deputy Commissioner of Police, Kushal Pal Singh, and ACP Operations Cell Subhash Malik, the Anti-Narcotics Cell was assigned to locate overstaying foreigners and scrutinize suspicious hotel guests.

On August 11, a team led by Inspector Satish Kumar Yadav, including Sub Inspectors Prem Narayan, Naveen, and Naveen Kumar, along with Head Constable Vikas and Constables Rahul and Vinod, was deployed for this operation.

Utilizing technical surveillance and human intelligence, the police successfully detained the foreign national at a hotel in Mohan Garden.

The suspect was identified as Kingsley Eze, hailing from Anambra State, Nigeria.

During a search, authorities discovered 8.43 grams of amphetamine, categorized as an intermediate quantity under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.

An FIR No. 205/2026 was subsequently filed under Sections 8 and 22 of the NDPS Act at the Mohan Garden Police Station in Dwarka.

Upon questioning, Eze revealed that he had entered India in 2019 on a business visa.

Further investigations indicated that he had been declared a proclaimed offender by a court concerning FIR No. 940/2022, which was registered under Section 22 of the NDPS Act and Section 14A of the Foreigners Act at Nihal Vihar Police Station.

This declaration was made through a court order dated May 30, 2026, according to police reports.

Authorities noted that Eze had previously been implicated in a case involving the alleged distribution of heroin and had been evading capture while residing in a hotel in the Mohan Garden area. His arrest was part of the ongoing VISTA 1.0 operation.

The recovery of amphetamine from Eze is seen as a significant advancement in the Dwarka District Police's anti-narcotics campaign, which operates under the motto, "Nasha par Lagam, Desh ko Salam".

Investigations are ongoing to identify the supplier of the seized narcotic and to uncover any broader network associated with the accused.
